School for Italian Language and Culture in Turin

Early Booking is essential if you wish to secure your spot

L’Italiano Porticando was founded in 2005 as a school specializing in Italian language and culture for foreigners in Turin. Located in the heart of the city, the “Quadrilatero Romano, with its magnificent historical buildings and the most important sightseeing destinations, our school is easy to find. The school is located in a beautiful 18th century building , it’s a cozy and friendly place, not too small, but not too big, exactly like it was designed by its founders – three women belonging to the same family. In fact, our aim is to make the students feel at home from the moment they arrive at school to the end of the course and afterwards. Everyone is welcome to stay at school after classes, to study, to watch a film or to read a book, or just to have a coffee with the school’s team.

All our teachers are native speakers with a university degree and rich experience as teachers for Italian language and culture to foreigners. Selected with great care and highly motivated, our teachers in addition to being highly professional and prepared, support foreign students in their experience with Italy and  the Italian language.

All services provided by L’Italiano Porticando, from the courses to the leisure activities and accommodation research are student and quality oriented. This is also the reason why the school is a member of A.S.I.L.S., the association of Italian language schools teaching Italian as a foreign language, guaranteeing the quality of instruction and professional level of services offered to students.

Students who want to have their language proficiency level certified can enroll for the CILS Exam preparation courses held during the month(s) before the exam date.

Our students come from all over the world and have different age. They come to Turin for different purposes – some come here to learn Italian surrounded by all the beauty Turin and Piedmont have to offer, indeed a lot of tourists come to our school to enrich their vacation with a language learning experience.

Some are here for their studies and some have yet to become university students.

More and more people enroll for business Italian courses as they come for work, and others are particularly interested in learning Italian while drinking wines of Piedmont and enjoying the refined cuisine of Piedmont. And we have such an option too!

And, of course, some of our students love Turin and Piedmont so much that they decide to move here.

L’Italiano Porticando was designed as a school where you can feel at home. The classrooms are big and bright but they do not remind of typical classrooms. After class you may stay at school to read, watch a film and do your homework. Moreover the school’s library is at your complete disposal, so you can either borrow books, newspapers, magazines, dictionaries, DVDs and CDs or use them at school. Here at school you also have, of course, also free internet access (from a PC for students or WI-FI).

All Italian language courses can be completed by free cultural and extra-curricular afternoon activities, such as visits to museums, walks around Turin, typical aperitifs, wine and chocolate tastings and workshops as cooking classes on Piedmontese cuisine. These activities are part of our language teaching method, which implies immersion in the language and deepening of comprehension and communication skills in relaxed and informal situations.

In high season on weekends our students have also the possibility to discover some of the picturesque cities and villages near Turin.

    Best school of Italian ever
No doubt L'Italiano Porticando is the best school of Italian in Italy . First of all the teaching method they use has nothing to do with typical dull language classes, as it implies individual approach to every student. In fact I've arrived as an advanced beginner with some difficulties in speaking Italian, and since the first day i was involved in the process. In a couple of weeks my progress was obvious to everyone. Apart from being the school n.1 it's a cozy place where you want to return, everyone is friendly and ready to help with studying after classes and with living everyday situations every foreigner face in Italy. The part of extra-curricular activities is a huge plus - I've learnt a great deal about Turin and surroundings and had a great opportunity to practice my Italian with students like me.
