The beautiful city of Florence was the birthplace of the Italian renaissance so what better place to study Italian abroad?!  Wonderful architecture, great food, and great weather are just a few of the reasons why you should attend an Italian course in Florence.

Study Abroad in the Beautiful City of Florence!

Florence is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Renowned for its glorious architecture, art and culture, it is one of the world’s greatest cities, and what an amazing place to study abroad in Italy!

Where is Florence?

Florence is situated in the Tuscany region of Italy. It’s actually the capital and largest city of Tuscany and is surrounded by the beautiful Tuscan countryside that Italy is so famous for. When you’re not studying hard at your foreign language school, or enjoying the sites of Florence, take a trip into the countryside as it’s quite special! The city is actually quite small by Italian city standards, with only around 365,000 residents in the city itself, and less than 700,000 in the urban area. Of course these numbers greatly swell with tourists and language travel students throughout the year!

The Historic Centre of Florence Attracts Millions of Visitors a Year!

Florence’s history centre is at the heart of its tourist attractions, attracting millions of visitors per year. What a great chance to experience all that this wonderful city has to offer when you study Italian in Florence. Among the top things to see is the famous cathedral, Santa Maria del Fiore, known as the Duomo. Be sure to go inside the cathedral and up into the dome for fantastic views over the city. Also see the Fountain of Neptune in the city’s heart, at the Piazza della Signoria, plus visit the picturesque bridges which cross the Arno River.

Study Abroad in Florence, the Birthplace of the Renaissance!

Florence is considered to be the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, especially for its art and architecture. To this day the city is still an important cultural centre where obviously Italian is spoken, though the Florentine language is a Tuscan dialect that has a few subtle differences to Italian even though it is a parent language to the modern day Italian language.

Enjoy the Tasty Tuscan Cuisine!

Being the capital of Tuscany you’ll find many tasty Tuscan dishes being served in Florence. Olive oil always features very highly in many of the dishes, and traditionally meat is the main course. However, if you’re a vegetarian language travel student there are always plenty of great non-meat dishes for you too including wonderful locally grown fruits and vegetables.

Florence has a Mild Climate

Florence’s mild climate is usually compared to Mediterranean, making this a popular place to study abroad at any time of the year. Summers get quite hot, and autumn and spring are very pleasant with warm temperatures. Winters are mild too, and rainfall can be expected throughout the year.
