Eco English Experience's unique approach combines:

* Intensive English language acquisition
* Travel across over 18 states in the U.S.A.
* Environmental education through site visits to leading environmental organizations
Eco English Experience journeys travel across the U.S. on luxury buses for both 14 and 28 day sessions of field-based learning.  English classes are held daily in preparation for getting off the bus to study a variety of environmental issues specific to the city or region we are traveling in.

Environment issues include sustainable energy, conservation, green design, environmental law, and agriculture.  English lessons reflect site curriculum and daily fireside chats are held to discuss topics and work on solutions with students from around the world.

Throughout the journeys we camp in national and state parks, complete homestays with American families, and stay at urban hostels.  In addition, participants experience extra-curricular activities such as rafting, rock climbing and volunteer projects.

Our staff has extensive experience teaching abroad in Europe, Asia, and Latin America and therefore understands the needs of foreign students and their educational backgrounds.  We encourage all nationalities to apply to create a diverse group with various backgrounds and experience levels.  English is spoken at all times so it is important to realize Eco English Experience is full immersion.

Interest in environmental education is key but an academic background in the sciences isn't required.  A desire to speak English and practice almost solely conversation is necessary for success at Eco English Experience.
In order to ensure a low 4 to 1 student-to-teacher ratio, the maximum group size is 20 participants, guaranteeing that you benefit from the most speaking and interaction time with staff and families.

Most of the participants for our programs range in age from 18 to 30 and are university undergraduates or graduate students.  This ensures that incoming students have an interest in academics and a beginner to intermediate English language base in order to fully interact with the organization staff we meet at businesses, at parks and hostels and during our home stays.

Eco English Experience is unlike most other language schools.  We know the best classroom is the real world.  We start our trips in Boston, Massachusetts and end in either New York City or Seattle, Washington, allowing you to actually visit and interact with American students, professionals, and families from across the United States.

For example, our mobile classroom allows you to fully immerse in the culture of New England and take part in a debate about Cape Wind, the first large scale wind farm in the United State.  In the mid-western U.S., you visit Chicago, Illinois and speak to the friendly and warm citizens of the windy city.  To completely understand how salmon impact the Pacific Northwest and the cities of Portland and Seattle, yo work alongside experts in the streams catching and releasing King, Chum and Humpy salmon.

We make these journeys in a luxury bus equipped with five plasma TV screens, satellite radio, DVD consoles, Wi-Fi, Xbox consoles and a full kitchen and bathroom.  Learning English as we move from site to site takes place in complete comfort, combining travel with classroom education in a unique way.

Eco English Experience is all about the activities.  In addition to 24 academic stops at various organizations, a core part of the program is making new friends, opening your eyes to new perspectives, sharing your experiences and simply traveling across America.

Along the way the staff push you to try adventurous activities like whitewater rafting, rock climbing and hiking.  We also expose you to new accommodations such as camping on the beach, exploring state forests, and staying in a rural village.

We do understand that you probably want some time to explore on your own.  For this reason we have designated four ““Eat What You Like, Go Where You Want” days in the cities of Boston, Washington D.C, Chicago and Seattle.  On these days, we equip you with maps and ideas for places you may want to visit and then unleash you to discover America on your own.

It's also easy to add on days before or after the trip for exploration.  Eco English Experience staff would be happy to help you arrange this.  Simply contact us with any questions.
    Visa Information
Students from most countries qualify for a visa waiver for short term trips.  Staff are happy to answer any questions on this topic and we work with you to ensure that all parts of your visa are completed well in advance of the start of your trip.

    How to get there

Participants arrive at Boston Logan International Airport at the start of the program.  At the end of the 14 day journey, students have the choice to either fly out from one of the two main airports located in New York City area (John F. Kennedy or Newark) or return to Boston to fly home.

If students are joining the 28 day trip, arrivals are at Boston Logan International Airport and all departures are from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport located in the state of Washington.

Going on this program is a life time experience that you will never regret. I have been in the US for 3 years and in 4 days I was able to understand the American culture and the American life better than before. We got to do English projects and a lot and environmental work and visits. So, we have a strong understanding of the environment and enviromental issues. Moreover, we got to experiince the real life of the American cowboys by living with a real cowboys in the country side. So this experience is mixed mostly of English and environmental work + enjoying a very cool American life. I would suggest all of students all over the world to apply for this program to learn English , understand many environmental problems and enjoy this experience in the real world rather than sitting in classes and having boring lectures.

My trip by Eco English Experience was fantastic!!! The food was EXCELLENT! We ate venison and fresh wild fish the first night. I learned a lot from the site visits. In addition, the activities, such as spot lighting and four-wheeler driving were so much fun!!! The home-stay families are very friendly. More importantly, the teachers are well-prepared. Casey and Mandy are awesome!!!I'm looking forward to next year!
