Academia Uruguay was founded in 2007 and has built its reputation on academic quality, full cultural immersion and highly professional service. It is a medium-sized school with around 500 students per year, run by its owners, offering classes in a friendly and personalized atmosphere. Academia offers a wide range of courses to both individual travellers and groups.
Individual courses offer you the possibility to choose topics and have classes at your very personal speed.
You can combine courses with our 2 other schools in Buenos Aires and Bariloche, Argentina, under the same management, with the same study materials and the same philosophy. We will organize a volunteering project for you, free of charge, if you commit to 4 weeks on the project.
Academia offers university credit through local universities for all spanish courses. We also prepare for the DELE and CELU exams.

There are a maximum of 6 students in our group classes (everage 3). Over the past year, we received students from 39 countries, with a majority coming from North America, Brasil, Europe and Australia. The average age is 31.

Academia Uruguay Spanish school in Montevideo is located on Plaza Matriz, in the pedestrian area of the old part of town. It covers the top floor of a recently restored colonial-style building with state-of-the-art infrastructure. The academy offers 8 light spacious classrooms with high ceilings, a huge rooftop terrace, 3 PCs for student use, wifi, a movie room, social areas, a book and DVD library, etc.
Students are offered cultural immersion experiences in and outside of the classroom through free extracurricular activities at least twice a week (guided visits to parts of town, concerts, tango, etc), a monthly movie showing followed by a debate and free afternoon academic workshops (conversation, phonetics, etc).
