    Studying abroad at a foreign language school can be a lot of fun, and studying a Plus Language Course can be even more fun! Language Courses Plus are available in many of the world’s language schools and are an excellent choice for language students who want to study more than just a foreign language.



    What is Language Courses Plus?


    Language Courses Plus is exactly as it sounds – it’s a language course, plus something else! The Plus part of your course could include all manner of things, though sports and leisure are particularly popular choices. Language Courses Plus can be suitable for all age groups, not just younger students, so can be considered by everyone who wants to study abroad and take a course in something else that interests them.



    Examples of Language Courses Plus


    There are many different types of Language Courses Plus available. As we mentioned above, sports and leisure activities are always very popular ones, so examples could be: tennis, golf, horse riding, soccer, dancing, and water sports. Other Plus Language Courses may include photography, art, or even lessons in aromatherapy, massage or reflexology.



    How do Language Courses Plus Differ to Standard Language School Programs?


    Cost


    The first difference will be the cost. You should expect to pay more for a Plus language course because obviously you are getting more out of it. The fee you pay will likely include both your language course and your Plus course, though things like accommodation, transportation etc would usually be additional, as they would with a standard language course too.



    Course Structure


    Your Language Courses Plus structure will differ to a standard language school course. Plus language courses will usually take one of two structures – you may study your language course for several weeks, then once that has finished you move on to the ‘Plus’ element of your course. This type of structure is quite common with summer school programs.


    The alternative is that you study both your language course and the Plus course side by side. The exact structure will vary with each language school, but for example, you might study 15 hours per week for your language course and 5 hours per week for your Plus course.



    How to Choose a Plus Language Course


    The type of Language Courses Plus that are available can vary greatly between countries and language schools. If there’s a specific Plus course that you would like to enrol on, look around at the different language schools to try to find one that offers your particular area of interest. But, don’t choose a language school just because they happen to offer the course you want to do; you should still be methodical in choosing the right language school and remember to consider things like their reputation, their location, types of accommodation offered, and fees charged, amongst other things.
