Mexico has so much to offer that it’s no surprise this North American country is popular the world over, with both foreign language students and leisure travellers. It’s a country with huge bustling cities, and wonderful coastal resorts, ancient civilisations, and superb food, plus much much more, and makes a great destination to study Spanish abroad!
Study abroad students who are looking for a destination to learn Spanish should seriously consider Mexico. The country has endless opportunities for fun and with so much to do Mexico really does appeal to everybody. Whether you prefer the coast and the chance to soak up the sun, or you want to experience the hustle and bustle of one of the world’s largest cities, you can do it all here when you're attending a Spanish course in Mexico!
Mexico is a country in North America. It lies just south of the USA and borders with Guatemala and Belize in the south of Mexico. The country also has a huge coastline, both on the Pacific Ocean and in the Caribbean. Mexico is the 14th largest country in the world, and with a population of nearly 110 million it is the 11th most populated.
What an amazing list of places to visit! Study abroad in Mexico and take time to discover some of the corners of this diverse country. Set up in the mountains is the capital and largest city, Mexico City. Full of people this city isn’t for those who prefer a quiet life, but there are many opportunities to have fun here and so much to see too.
How about the coast? Tropical beaches can be found in abundance, from the popular surfing culture of Baja California, to the cities of Acapulco, Cancun, and Cozumel. Then there are the remains of ancient civilisations. Language travel students who are interested in ancient history will never get bored here when you can visit world famous places like Chichen Itza and Teotihuacan.
The Mexican people are known for being friendly and welcoming and are proud of their culture. As a language travel student in Mexico you’ll have plenty of opportunity to immerse yourself in many aspects of it. Spanish is of course the major language spoken here, but interestingly there are also 62 indigenous Amerindian languages spoken in some parts too.
Mexican food is popular around the world, so it’s likely that most language travel students will have tried it at least once! Enjoy all the famous favourites such as quesadillas, enchiladas, tacos, and burritos, but don’t worry if you don’t like these, there are always plenty of other types of food to eat here too!
If you study abroad in Mexico there are many parts of the country where you can enjoy constant high temperatures, throughout the year. And if you enjoy the beach, Mexico generally has excellent beach weather, perfect for taking time out from your study abroad program and relaxing.
