    English New Zealand, incorporating FIELSNZ (Federation of Independent English Language Schools of New Zealand) was established in 1986.


    English New Zealand is the peak body for the English language sector in New Zealand (both private and state) and represents quality English language schools.


    26 full member schools are located throughout New Zealand providing a range of destination options for international students.  Schools with this level of membership offer quality English language tuition, teacher training (TESOL) and pathways into universities, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions in New Zealand.


    Quality schools


    English New Zealand jealously guards its reputation for quality. All member schools are approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and are signatories to the New Zealand Ministry of Education Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.


    In addition, full member schools must meet the rigorous English New Zealand Standards. 


    Audited Standards


    Over and above their NZQA approval and accreditation, English New Zealand full member schools are audited using the English New Zealand Standards. These rigorous standards assess schools on a three-yearly basis using both academic and management criteria specific to the English language industry. Best practice in the following areas is assessed by trained auditors:

    - academic content

    - academic staff qualifications and experience

    - professional support and development

    - curriculum design and delivery

    - student assessment

    - the learning environment and resources

    - self assessment and student feedback 


    Activities


    English New Zealand holds agent workshops overseas each year in Japan, Taiwan, China, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, Brazil, French Polynesia, Thailand and Vietnam.


    English New Zealand schools greatly value the work of agents promoting study abroad and will do everything possible to provide students with the ultimate learning experience.  


    English New Zealand, as the peak body, also works closely with government and industry partners to promote New Zealand as a quality study destination that is welcoming to students.
