Not too large, but not too small Eastbourne has everything you need, and with a fervent population of foreign language students the town has a youthful and fun feel!



    Where is Eastbourne?



    Eastbourne is in the English county of Sussex. It’s a seaside town so it’s set right on the coast in the south of England, about 68 miles (110km) from the capital, London. Eastbourne is a fairly large town with a permanent population of around 98,000 people, but during the summer in particular the population swells as tourists and language travel students descend on the town!

    The coast and the 4 miles (6km) of beach is Eastbourne’s main attraction. During the summer you can spend your free days from your language immersion course enjoying the beach, happy in the knowledge that Eastbourne is actually one of the sunniest places in Britain! Along with the beach you’ll find everything you would expect in a traditional English seaside town – there’s the Victorian era Eastbourne Pier with its fun shops, amusements, bar and nightclub, plus there’s a good assortment of other shops in the town, as well as restaurants, bars, pubs and nightclubs. 


    More traditional tourist attractions like museums, parks and gardens are also to be found in the town, but Eastbourne is also a great student travel destination if you like the outdoors – see below.

If you enjoy walking and cycling you can really make the most of your weekends when you study abroad in Eastbourne, visiting places like Beachy Head, or travelling inland and enjoying the great British countryside on cycle trails like The Cuckoo Trail, or walks along the South Downs Way!

    As a traditional English seaside town you have to try some traditional fish and chips at least once during your time at a foreign language school in Eastbourne! This isn’t all that’s available though – you’ll find fresh seafood here too, plus a good range of restaurants and large supermarkets selling a variety of products. If you’re looking for some fun nights, Eastbourne has some lively nightclubs and pubs, as well as those that are a little quieter if you want a drink with friends.
