The DEFLE has been awarded the "French as a Foreign Language Quality Label". This labeling scheme was introduced by the French government to identify, recognize and promote schools where the language programs and related services present the required quality for reception, accommodation, pedagogy and management.
Located on a university campus in the very heart of the city of Nancy in eastern France, the DéFLE (Department of French as a Foreign Language) of University Nancy 2, annually hosts international students and provides training in French language adapted to all levels and goals.
Students have access to the university language centre university libraries, computer rooms with free internet access and sports facilities on the campus.
Students have many opportunities to stay in a hall of residence or apartment near the campus or in the city centre.

Students are streamed into distributed in small groups of 20 students maximum according to their level. Two formulas are proposed based on their individual goals and availability.
The DéFLE offers a semester (260 hours) or annual (520 hours) course training promoting intensive learning and immersion in the French language and culture.
The teaching methodology is based on the recommendations of the European Union on language teaching and particularly on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).
Personalised courses enable students to build the programme best suited for their needs. Courses and self study sessions at the centre aim at improving oral and written communication ability as well as individual language learning strategies.
Dates (year 2011/2012):
1st semester: 13 weeks starting on Monday, September 5th to Friday, December 16th 2011
2nd semester: 13 weeks starting on Monday 9th January to Friday, May 11th, 2012
Extensive or semi-intensive “à la carte” training, for individuals or groups, for adult continuing education or part-time students.
As an official examination center, the DéFLE offers the opportunity to prepare and take examinations for the Diploma of French Language Studies (DELF) and the Advanced Diploma in French Language (DALF). These national diplomas are internationally recognized in professional fields.
