Language School description

Tours Langues is a small and friendly French school located in Tours (one hour from Paris by train), a very pleasant historical city. Our groups are limited to 8 students which enables us to offer an individual monitoring; our teachers are native speakers, fully qualified, experienced and trained.

We offer our students a free access to the Internet and free transportation to the excursions we organize every Friday afternoon. It’s the best way to learn French as well as French culture. We also give one to one lessons.

Tours Langues, created in 1994, is located place Plumereau, in the city centre, close to the shops, railway and coach stations. It is in the historical and tourist district of the city. Place Plumereau is the favourite meeting place for students and Tourangeaux - the city inhabitants. You will find there many restaurants and outdoor cafés to have a little rest and to speak French.

Tours Langues pays particular attention to students. To enhance the chance of success and progress, the classes consist of a maximum of 8 people (10 people from June to September). Our teachers are specialised in teaching French as a foreign language. Whatever your age, your level of French or your aims, we provide a wide range and variety of lessons. We offer a balance between grammar, writing and oral expression, with the assistance of various technological aids (video- computers- television). These can be adapted to the specific needs of each individual.

School facilities description

- Situated in the very heart of the Old Town, the school is in close proximity to the Loire and many shops and facilities.

- As the art of good living is of prime importance in our region you will find many excellent restaurants, bars and of course fine cafes and patisseries. Also within walking distance there are unique shops offering everything from exquisite local wines to rare books with everything in between. And “Tours” is just one hour from Paris by TGV.

- We carefully arrange for you accommodation in host family, hotels, studios or youth hostel.

- We are central exam place for TEF by CCIP (Paris Chamber of Commerce) and for TCF by CIEP. Students of Tours Langues and other ones can take them once every month at Tours Langues. And this will allow them to leave with an official and international qualification. We also prepare you for DELF and DALF.

- We offer ideal learning conditions: the small group allows students to participate actively and receive more individual support. The content of the lessons is based on authentic documents and the use of information technology.

- Every Friday afternoon, we organize many cultural and sports activities with teachers, including visits to the castles of the Loire Valley, wine cellars, museums, nearby villages as well as tasting of the local products. We also organize cooking lessons with a chef twice a month.

- We give all necessary information for the students who will discover our region by themselves and assist them during their stay in Tours and in France (opening of a bank account, administrative support for the visa, buy a mobile phone etc)
-
In addition to the classrooms, the school offers a video room, a library, a language lab, a computer room, with free access to the Internet and a students kitchen (with a fridge, a microwave, a kettle, dishes) where the students can warm up their meal, prepare tea and coffee. The library, the video room, the computer room and the students kitchen are in free access.

Excellent

The two weeks I spent recently at Tours Langues were "formidable". The classes were small and enthusiastic with very professional teachers. A great mix of speaking, listening, grammar and my vocabulary improved automatically. The school is very well organised and the extra benefits such as excursions and cooking classes were great. Our host family couldn't have been better. They were very welcoming and gave us lots of help with the language. I wish I had discovered Tours Langues years ago!

I only studied at Tours Langues for a short time compared to some-just 6 weeks-but it was exactly what I was looking for and extremely worth while. All the teachers were very friendly, the lessons never had more than 8 to a class and there was a relaxed and informal atmosphere-for the most part classes were all about conversation and as a result my speaking and comprehension skills improved greatly. There was also a number of optional excursions and activities during the weeks which was a great way of getting to know the other students and the area around Tours. Overall I had a great time and would recommend Tours Langues for anyone looking to improve their speaking/comprehension, as well as meet many new people from all over the world!

I have done different language courses over the years and this place has definitely been the best! Its a place where you can learn in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere which is a bonus. I did the one-on-one course which meant I could go at my own pace and get to know the teachers so that by the end we could have a joke around. I am in France for 2 years and when I go to work, my collegues comment on how my french is improving so it was definetley worth doing the course. I would recommend it to anyone!

Consigliatissima!

'Tours Langues' is, in my opinion, the best institution for French language education in Tours. After attending a similar institution, which left me very unsatisfied, I turned to Tours Langues on the advice of a friend. It turned out to be the best decision I made toward achieving my goal of becoming conversational in French. From my first day I noticed the difference between Tours Langues and other schools. The instructors were exceptionally welcoming and knowledgeable, making it really easy to learn (regardless of your level of French). The classes were small and stimulating, therefore providing a great deal of conversation practice. I also found the student body to be kind and very diverse – it was an excellent way to make new friends from around the world! Tours Langues is a very well organized school and offers a lot of opportunities to explore French culture through excursions, group dinners, and gourmet cooking classes! I really recommend Tours Langues if you’re looking for a friendly and effective place to learn Français 

This April I organized a week in France for my class and we decided to work together with Tours Langue. The week was a huge success and more than I had hoped for. Tours Langue is highly professional in every regard. The families, my pupils stayed with, were thouroughly chosen and showed great interest in their guest sons and daughters. They really made them talk and use their French. I was also very impressed by the effectiveness and quickness of the staff of Tours Langue regarding the practical organisation of our stay. My pupils learned a lot in the few days and gained confidence in talking French. They also appreciated the friendly atmosphere in the school and the input the teachers gave them.
I can thus highly recommend Tours Langue and I am sure to come again with my next French class.

The atmosphere at Tour Langues is very welcoming. The location of the school - Place Plumereau – is perfect because not only is it an ideal place to relax and meet people but also a place where you can ‘soak up’ the exciting French culture. I found the teachers very friendly and they all made genuine efforts to pass on information about French culture. The teachers are also always ready to provide extra learning aids to ensure that the students improve on their French. I look forward to returning to the school in the nearest future to take my French to a new level.

I spent a month at Tours Langues when I first arrived in Tours in October. It was excellent, my teacher was enthusiastic and passionate about teaching. She was always patient with us and helped me to get a good understanding of the basics of French. I really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, the central location is superb and every week the school organises a trip to go to a castle, winetasting etc which is an excellent way to get out and about in the region and also practice your French while you're at it by talking to the other students and the teacher. Definitely recommend Tours Langues! Merci beaucoup!

When I first arrived to France this school was my first step towards learning the french language. I enjoyed having the classes in small groups. It gave me more opportunity to advance quicker and to get to know my classmates. I had a really good time and met very nice people. There were a few different language teachers and each of them had various methods of teaching. I felt I progressed well during my 3 months at the school.

I have had one to one classes at Tours Langues since September. The school is in a great location, and you feel welcome when you arrive. The teachers all have different methods and approaches to teaching, but they are all very professional. I have really noticed my progress with the french language since my arrival, and would recommend this school to anyone who is looking to progress quickly in a friendly atmosphere.

I would highly recommend this school for one reason; they take seriously their job in education while keeping a friendly and secure environment inside and outside the class.

The families are carefully selected making sure the studens have a great experience leaving with them. Teachers and staff are a constant support for the students in their day to day for small and big needs. They always are willing to recomend a book, get you directions to the cinema or helping you to book your train tickets. They are always there.

The vivists are just great, do not miss them.

Regards.
