Language School description
The F+U language school is situated by Bismarckplatz, in the middle of the vibrant centre of the university city and just a few metres from the Neckar. The school building offers a fantastic view over the Old Town, castle and into the Neckar valley.
In its specialist area of German as a Foreign Language, F+U Academy of Languages is one of the world leaders in the provision of German courses, whether in the form of intensive lessons in the mornings and afternoons, or in complementary evening courses.
As a test centre for TestDaF and TOEFL, the Academy of Languages stands for a particular quality in the teaching of languages.
Besides TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and TestDaF (Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache), the following exams can be taken in the Academy of Languages test centre: Zertifikat Deutsch, Zertifikat Deutsch für den Beruf, TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication), LCCI (London Chamber of Commerce and Industry) exams, TELC (The European Language Certificates) for the languages German, English, French, Italian, Russian, Spanish and more), ECDL (the European Computer Driving Licence), TestAS (certification to demonstrate foreign applicants’ suitability for study) and OnDaF – to name but a few.
Of particular significance is the Vocational School for Foreign Languages, established in 2004, where it is possible to study towards the state recognised qualifications of Fremdsprachenkorrespondent/in (Foreign Language Correspondent Clerk), Europasekretär/in (European Secretary) and Translator.
Since 2006, the Academy of Languages has also offered intensive courses in Chinese and Japanese and Russian, and in these languages too, it is possible to qualify as a Fremdsprachenkorrespondent/in. For Russian, we cooperate with the University of Heidelberg.
The F+U Academy of Languages carries out the “Eurodyssée” and “Leonardo da Vinci” internship programmes. Through these programmes, young people from approximately 40 European regions can attend a language course in another European country or in Heidelberg, followed by an internship at a company in the region.
The Academy of Languages complements its range of services with the organisation of language tours in every continent.
School facilities description
With 30 multimedia-equipped classrooms (up to 60 in summer), 3 Internet rooms with 50 computers, wireless connection, a small library and, without doubt, thanks to its central location in Heidelberg, the Academy of Languages fulfils all the criteria for transforming language lessons into a special experience. Due to its international character, the school is a unique venue for encountering other cultures.
